Remember the Past, Experience the Present, and Celebrate the Future! Join the Federation's Mission to Poland and Israel September 14-26, 2008

Travel with us during Israel's 60th birthday year. This will be a life-changing experience, filled with emotions high and low.

In the year that Israel turns 60, join your friends from Cincinnati and share unforgettable moments in Jewish history while bearing witness to the undying spirit of the Jewish People.

Witness the tragedies of the Holocaust in Poland with a Holocaust survivor from Israel:

• Tour the ghettos and cities of Krakow, Warsaw and Lodz
• Learn about the rich history of Polish Jewry as you visit the graves of the Warsaw Cemetery
• Understand shtetl life by visiting the 16th century  synagogue in the small town of Tykocin
• Memorialize those who were murdered at the Death Camp of Treblinka
• Visit with young people who are practicing their Judaism in Poland today while touring the Lauder Day School and the Nozyk Synagogue of Warsaw
• Walk the tracks of Auschwitz and Birkenau with Holocaust Survivor, Roman Frister!*

*Roman Frister is an important personality in Israel and even moreso in Poland. His book, THE CAP, is considered one of the most difficult testimonies of the holocaust and one of the most honest books ever written by a holocaust survivor. Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial in Israel, constantly recommends Frister’s book to all visitors, and every Israeli tour guide trained by the Yad Vashem museum or working in Poland is required to read his book.

Roman Frister was the editor of one of the largest news papers in Israel for many years, and has run a famous journalism school. Today Frister writes for a well-known newspaper in Poland and is a highly regarded speaker in constant demand... His books have been translated in many languages and some are in the process of becoming films.

Celebrate 60 years of accomplishments in Israel with fantastic Israeli guides:

• Experience a joyful Shabbat in Jerusalem
• Meet with Ethiopian Israeli women who migrated to Israel through Sudan
• Enjoy a performance by the Batsheva Dance Company
• Experience high tech from Israel by touring the Technion Institute of Technology in Haifa
• Visit the beautiful cities of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa, Acco, and Netanya

While on this mission you will have the opportunity to make your gift to the 2009 Jewish Federation Annual Community Campaign.

The cost of this mission is $5,500* per person, double occupancy, with roundtrip air from Cincinnati; $3,500* Israel only.
