Hidden Signals for a Planned Gift

The following are signals that you may be talking to a donor interested in a planned gift and doesn’t realize it. These are especially more likely to come up when you are in a casual conversation rather than during an actual solicitation conversation.

If the individual alludes to:

  1. Illiquid assets such as real estate

  2. Multiple financial goals, caring for elderly parents, educating the young

  3. Ties to family or closely-held business

  4. Concerns about providing for heirs

  5. Concerns about outliving ones resources

  6. Living on a fixed income and assets are producing low returns

  7. Retirement planning is a concern

  8. Desire to make a major gift using assets other than cash

  9. Desire to make a major gift under a will or other estate plan

  10. Desire to simplify financial matters

  11. Concerns about time/energy devoted to managing assets

For every one of the above there is an appropriate planned gift strategy.  Contact Jim Friedman jfriedman@jfedcin.org or 985-1524 to discuss the best strategy to move forward.
