The first Wise Temple Chicken Soup Cook-Off was proposed by Jay Rissover and the Wise Temple Brotherhood back in 2003. From the beginning, this event has been a huge success. While not created as a fund raising event, the proceeds from the cook off have enabled the Wise Temple Brotherhood to provide services to Wise Temple and the Community.

With both Amateur and Professional entrants, the Cook-off has become an anticipated event every year since its inception. Restaurateurs and regular people have cooked 100s of gallons of chicken soup and each entrant produces extra soup that is donated to the Over the Rhine Soup Kitchen.
