Celebrate the opening of TWO landmark exhibits in the same night on the campus of the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion!
The evening will begin at 4:00PM at Mayerson Hall in Skirball Museum with lite bites, viewing of the "Holy Sparks" exhibition and a welcome by Rabbi Jonathan L. Hecht, followed by the introduction of special guests.
Next, the reception will travel across campus to the Marcus Center at the American Jewish Archives for remarks by Dr. Gary P. Zola and a keynote address by Sally Priesand, the first woman ordained a rabbi in North America. Viewing of the "Sally Priesand Paves the Way" exhibition will follow.

Holy Sparks: Celebrating 50 Years of Woman in the Rabbinate ( May 19 - September 4, 2022 ) is the story of 24 pioneering rabbis’ lives and achievement, illuminated in the works of 24 leading contemporary Jewish women artists in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the ordination of Rabbi Sally J. Priesand as the first woman rabbi in North America.

Sally Priesand Paves the Way ( May 19, 2022 - May, 2023 ) features never-before seen documents relating to Sally J. Priesand's journey to becoming the first woman rabbi ordained in North America. Visitors will also be able to view unique memorabilia and personal artifacts recently donated by Rabbi Priesand which are now preserved in the collection of the American Jewish Archives.
