Give Together: Calling all challah makers!
As part of Jewish Family Service's Rosh Hashanah package for clients, Women’s Philanthropy is providing all of the loaves of challah. In addition to purchasing loaves of kosher challah using funds raised from the challah making event (see below), we are looking for volunteers to make 5 or 10 loaves of challah each, which can be delivered to Jewish Family Service Barbash Family Vital Support Center on September 6 at 11:00 a.m. Please freeze your loaves before dropping them off. If you can’t drop off your donation at the specified time, an alternate time can be arranged. Contact Debby Rosen at drosen@jfedcin.org to let her know you’d like to participate, how many loaves of challah you’ll be donating, and if you need different drop-off accommodations!
Be Together: Can someone please show me how to make round challah?!
Join women of all ages (and challah making skill level) for a fun and brief challah making class. Community member and cook extraordinaire, Rini Levy, will lead us through the first phase of challah making – the dough – and will demonstrate how to make round challah. This program will be on September 13 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. There is an optional $18 couvert, and money raised will go toward purchasing kosher challah for families in need for Jewish Family Service’s Rosh Hashanah Packages (any surplus of funds will be used in support of events like this). The registration confirmation email will provide you with the recipe and supplies needed, along with the zoom link to join the event. Sign up by September 11.
