This exhibition consists of 36 photographs that document the people who inhabit the land we call Israel. Born in Jamaica, Queens, New York, Robert moved with his family to Dayton, OH, where he attended elementary and high school. He pursued a photojournalism education at Kent State University. The miracle victory of the Yom Kippur War triggered something in Roberts. He knew he wanted to visit Israel.

His first visit was in the 1970s, followed by numerous trips for former employers, a news service and two newspapers, and a try at Aliyah, which ended under the direction of his physician. Roberts’ body of work incorporates images from Israel of all of the diverse communities. Yes, there are Jews, but there are also Arabs. There are religious and secular people. This is nota collection of photographs of “The Wall” or “The Dead Sea.” These are images of people involved in living on a daily basis. These photographs of Jews, Christians, Muslims, Druze and tourists depict a world quite distant from the conflict and hate splashed across the headlines.
