Cincinnati representatives including myself (Shep), along with 3,000 other leaders from Jewish Federations across the US, participated in the Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA)'s annual conference in Los Angeles this past week. Throughout this year’s "General Assembly," we saw the power of 148 local Federations acting collectively. We commemorated the 30th anniversary of bringing hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees from the Former Soviet Union and more recently the remarkable response to Hurricane Harvey in Houston. The issue of pluralism—advocating that diverse Jewish expression be respected in Israel—was also prominently discussed. Israel's President Reuven Rivlin highlighted the issue in his remarks, and on Monday morning, the JFNA board issued the strongest resolution ever on the need for the Israeli government to show greater respect for Jewish religious diversity.
