Please join the Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education as we honor Elie Wiesel, Holocaust survivor, author and Nobel Laureate who died on July 2, 2016.  We will be reading his book, Night, a poignant autobiographical account of his survival as a teenager in the Nazi death camps. Come to read a page or two, or to listen while others read, while as a community we mourn the loss of this great humanitarian.

During the Community Reading, our permanent exhibit, Mapping Our Tears, will be open to the public.  In the exhibit, you will find personal letters, a child’s storybook, a chess set and other prized items from a time of innocence; along with an Auschwitz prison uniform and yellow stars, articles from a time of Nazi persecution and hardship.  All of the powerful and unique artifacts in the exhibit are connected to local Holocaust survivors, liberators and eyewitnesses.  While the artifacts humanize the history, information panels provide historical context.
