On the eve of Yom Hashoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, join Skirball Museum director Abby Schwartz and fifth year HUC-JIR Cincinnati rabbinical student Shmuel Polin for a conversation about the full-size replica of a Polish Aron hakodesh (Holy Ark) that Polin and his team have built and installed at the Cincinnati Skirball Museum. The original ark from Sidra, Poland was destroyed by the Nazis, and is closely related to the 18th century Polish ark that graces the Scheuer Chapel on the historic Cincinnati campus of HUC-JIR. The conversation will be live form the exhibition, which includes related documentation and works of art from the Skirball's collection that address the destruction of the wooden synagogues in Europe.
