In conjunction with the celebration of Tu B'Shevat, NHS is partnering with Shomrei Olam - Jewish Environmental Advocates of Cincinnati, to collect spent household batteries and burnt-out light bulbs. Both batteries and light bulbs contain toxic chemicals that can leach into local groundwater during the decomposition process. These items cannot be placed in any curbside recycling program and should not be placed directly in the trash.

Shomrei Olam representatives will be on-site at Northern Hills on Sunday, February 5th, 9am - 12:30 to collect any household batteries, as small as hearing aid batteries and up to power tool batteries, as well as burnt-out light bulbs. Your participation will ensure that these items don't end up in our local landfill.
