About Pam Kravetz and I Think My Uncle Gershun Was a Golem

Pam Kravetz’s selective memories, embellished stories, and make-believe musings serve as inspiration for her artwork. In her multimedia installations, the viewer becomes immersed in the art that explodes with color and texture. Puppets, toys, and larger-than-life-sized interactive art tell a narrative of revealing stories about the artist’s life. In her eccentric and wildly wonderful lineage, she finds the joy in the resistance, resilience, and perseverance of being Jewish.

I Think My Uncle Gershun Was a Golem will explore Kravetz’s family history as well as her own personal journey as an artist and as a member of the Jewish community in Cincinnati. This is an ambitious, challenging and very personal installation by the artistthat reveals colorful family stories, as well as their resilience and perseverance when confronting antisemitism.
