With Israel and Syria's status as enemy countries, how do refugees make their way to an Israeli hospital? 

What happens when they realize that their lives were saved by Israelis? 

With the on-going violence in neighboring Syria, Israel has positioned itself to be of service to thousands of Syrians in need of medical assistance—knowing that Israel and Syria are formally enemy countries. More than 2,500 casualties of the Syrian Civil War received treatment in Israel during the past 4 years, in one of the most complicated humanitarian efforts in history. Fifteen hundred of those Syrians were treated and cared for in the Galilee Medical Center in Naharyia. The Jewish Community Relations Council and the Israel Center of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati will be hosting Amir Yarchi, CEO of the Friends of Galilee Medical Center and former Cincincinnati Shaliach, for an open discussion about the new Middle East, Ethics and Medicine.
