An Unorthodox Discussion of Netflix's "Unorthodox"

Join us for a thought-provoking discussion of Netflix’s “Unorthodox.” Noted scholar and lecturer, Arna P. Fisher, will interview Dr. Michal Raucher, Undergraduate Director and Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies at Rutgers University. They will discuss issues of identity and community as it relates to the popular series “Unorthodox.” Participants will have the opportunity to listen to and engage the speakers with questions.


About the Speakers:

Arna Poupko Fisher is a noted lecturer, educator, and author. She serves as an adjunct professor at both the University of Cincinnati and Hebrew Union College and is on the full-time faculty of the Wexner Foundation.  She has dedicated her life to Jewish issues, including the challenges and opportunities of Jewish leadership and the capacity for the Hebrew Bible and Jewish philosophy to inform contemporary communal life.


Michal Raucher is an Assistant Professor of Jewish Studies at Rutgers University. Her research lies at the intersection of Israel studies, Jewish ethics, and the anthropology of women in Judaism. She is the author of the forthcoming book Conceiving Agency: Reproductive Authority among Haredi Women
