Meet our 2024-2025 Chaverim!

Hi! I’m Ron, the new chaverim m’Israel in 2024-2025. I arrived in Cincy last Thursday and I can’t wait to start my year here and meet all of you.

So, a bit about myself.

I’m 17 years old and from Netanya. I live with my two parents and two siblings. My mom, Lili, works as a nurse. And My dad, Roman, is an electric engineer. My brother’s name is Sean, he’s 21 and currently serves in the Army as a combat officer. My sister’s name is Alin, she’s 6 months old and currently is mostly crying and sleeping. But she’s the cutest!

I studied at a school called Ramot Yam, which translates to “levels of the sea” because it’s right near the beach! At school, my two majors were English Diplomacy and computer science. One of my favorite hobbies is Diplomacy:) that’s why I went on delegations all over the world, from Morocco to Hungary, and even participated in March of the Living this year in Poland. 

Ever since 10th grade, I was a Madrich in my youth moment called “the new movement”. In my first year, I guided 4th graders and taught them a lot about team collaboration and saving the environment, with a focus on starting our own vegetable farm. In my second year, I guided 9th graders, where I mostly taught them how to become the best Madrichim that they can be, and went through a process with them that included seminars, gaining hands-on experience, and much more. For two months, I managed the youth movement branch, and oversaw seminars, trips, and activities to all Madrichim and Hanichim, together with my friends.

I am so excited to bring my Israeli point of view this year to your Jewish community and nd every one of you, please feel free to get in touch as I would love to have a chance to talk to you all.

היי! אני רון, החבר החדש מישראל לשנת 2024-2025. הגעתי לסינסי בחמישי האחרון ואני לא יכול לחכות להתחיל את השנה ולפגוש את כולכם.

אז, קצת על עצמי.

אני בן 17 מנתניה וגר עם שני ההורים ושני האחים שלי. אמא שלי, לילי, עובדת כאחות, ואבא שלי, רומן, עובד כמהנדס אלקטרוני. אח שלי, שון, בן 21 ומשרת כרגע בצבא כקצין. אחות שלי, אלין, בת 6 חודשים וכרגע בעיקר בוכה וישנה, אבל היא הכי חמודה שיש!

למדתי בבית ספר שנקרא רמות ים, בגלל שהוא ממש על הים! בבית הספר שלי, שתי המגמות שלי היו דיפלומטיה באנגלית ומדעי המחשב. אחד מהתחביבים הכי גדולים שלי זה דיפלומטיה:) זה למה השתתפתי במשלחות בכל העולם, ממרוקו עד להונגריה, ואפילו לקחתי חלק במצעד החיים השנה בפולין.

מכיתה י׳, התחלתי להדריך בתנועת הנוער שלי שנקראת ״התנועה החדשה״. בשנה הראשונה שלי, הדרכתי את שכבת ד׳ ולימדתי אותם הרבה על עבודת צוות ועל איכות הסביבה, עם דגש על התחלת חוות ירקות. בשנה השנייה שלי בהדרכה, הדרכתי את שכבת ט׳, ובעיקר לימדתי אותם איך להפוך למדריכים הכי טובים של יכולים להיות, ועברתי איתם תהליך שכלל סמינרים, התנסויות, ועוד הרבה. במשך חודשים, ניהלתי את הסניף שלי, והייתי אחראי על סמינרים, טיולים, ופעילויות לכל המדריכים והחניכים, ביחד עם חברים שלי.

אני כל כך מתרגש להביא את נקודת המבט הישראלית שלי השנה לקהילה היהודית שלכם ולכל אחד ואחת מכם, בבקשה תרגישו חופשי ליצור קשר בגלל שאשמח להכיר את כולכם.

Naama Sagi  

In English:

Hi! My name is Naama Sagi and I’m so excited to be here in Cincinnati. I live in Haifa, which is in the northern part of Israel. 

I love living in Haifa because of all the different people and religions I get to experience and be surrounded by. 

 I’m the oldest sister to three younger siblings: Boaz, Elad, and Renanna.

I attended Leo Baeck, a Reform Jewish school in Haifa, where I participated in Shabbat services, and events like Passover Seders for Holocaust survivors, and even traveled to London to lead a camp for Jewish children for ten days.

At school, I majored in software engineering and chemistry. In my free time, I love to read and have been playing the piano since I was a child. 

I also attended an arts middle school where I majored in music. I enjoy sports, especially swimming and running, and I aspire to serve as a combat soldier in the Israeli army, and possibly even as a pilot. 

My favorite singers are Osher Cohen and Nir Kenan, and I love the color red (just look at my hair!).

I joined the youth movement "Knafayim Shel Krembo"- Krembo Wings; a youth movement for kids with and without special needs; in 10th grade and have been a counselor there for two years. Last year, I worked with 4th and 5th graders and enjoyed it immensely. I feel that I will always have a safe and welcoming place at my local branch, and that being part of "Krembo" has helped me grow and become the person I am today.

I’m so excited about our year together, and I’m sure it will be amazing.

היי! קוראים לי נעמה שגיא ואני מתרגשת בטירוף להיות פה בסינסינטי, ובטוחה שיהיה לנו שנה מעולה ביחד. 

אני גרה בחיפה שזה יחסית צפונית בישראל.  אני אוהבת מאוד את העיר שלי, בגלל כל התרבויות והאנשים השונים שאני זוכה להכיר ולפגוש.  

אני אחות בכורה לשלושה אחים קטנים, בועז אלעד ורננה, ולמדתי בבית ספר ליאובק, בית ספר רפורמי בחיפה. 

מטעם לבית ספר השתתפתי בקבלות שבת, אירועים כמו סדר פסח לניצולי שואה ואפילו טסתי להדריך בקייטנה לילדים יהודיים בלונדון לעשרה ימים. 

בבית ספר הרחבתי הנדסת תוכנה וכימיה, ובזמני הפנוי אני מאוד אוהבת לקרוא. 

אני מנגנת גם על פסנתר מאז שאני ילדה קטנה, והייתי אפילו בתיכון לאומנויות שם הרחבתי מוזיקה. אני אוהבת גם ספורט, 

שחייה וריצה, ורוצה מאוד בצבא להיות לוחמת ואולי אפילו טייסת. הזמרים האהובים עליי הם אושר כהן וניר כנען, ואני אוהבת את 

הצבא אדום ( רק תסתכלו על השיער שלי).  

אני הייתי בתנועת הנוער כנפיים של קרמבו;  תנועת נוער שמשלבת בין ילדים עם ובלי צרכים מיוחדים. הצטרפתי בכיתה י, ומאז הדרכתי שם גם שנתיים. 

בשנה האחרונה הדרכתי כיתות ד-ה, ונהנתי בטירוף. אני מרגישה שתמיד יהיה לי בית ומקום בטוח בסניף שלי, 

ושלהיות בקרמבו פיתח אותי ובנה אותי להיות מי שאני היום.

אני מתרגשת מאוד להיות פה, ובטוחה שתהיה לנו שנה מעולה. תרגישו חופשי לכתוב לי לגבי כל דבר.
