Karen Goodman recently joined the National Women's Philanthropy Board, taking her seat beside fellow Cincinnatian Jennifer Knight Zelkind, who is now in her seventh year of an eight-year term. Two women from one city now help guide a network of more than two hundred leaders from over sixty communities.

Ask Karen what drives her giving and she keeps it simple. "Find one thing that translates Jewish joy into meaningful action."

Jennifer says the experience has taught her that leadership means involving everyone who wants to participate. "Building community through doing good deeds together has made a real difference in my life," she says. "Everyone has something they can offer."

National Women's Philanthropy connects Jewish women across North America who give, lead, and organize on behalf of their communities. Having two Cincinnati voices at that table means our community's perspective helps shape the work, and it means the relationships built here reach well beyond our region.

Both women point to the same idea in different words: showing up matters. A gift, a skill, an afternoon of time, each one adds to what the community can do together.
