Florida Reunion Highlights Current Aid to Jews in Need in Ukraine & FSU

Palm Beach Gardens, FL March 6—On a beautiful balmy Sunday evening in March, sixty Cincinnatians who live in Florida part-time recently reconnected with the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati at the home of Patsy and Barry Kohn in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida

After catching up over cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, the group was given a brief update on highlights in the Cincinnati Jewish community over the past months by the Jewish Federation’s Annual Campaign co-chair Marty Hiudt. Federation CEO Shep Englander then shared his perspective on the increased and more profound collaboration in the Jewish community in the eleven years he has been in Cincinnati.

In the featured event of the evening, Alexandra Shklar, from the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, shared the story of her heart-rending personal journey from Siberia, to Israel, to the US. She also discussed her current position, serving the Jews of Ukraine and the former Soviet Union who live in the most dire and impoverished conditions.

Jay Price, Vice President of Development for the Federation closed the evening by thanking all in attendance for their dedication and leadership they have provided over the years which has paved the way for the vibrant Jewish community we now enjoy in Cincinnati.

Everyone agreed that this was one of the most impactful of our 15 Florida reunions.
