Jewish community packaging Kosher Thanksgiving meals for needy families

More than 150 households will be provided a kosher Thanksgiving dinner thanks to the generosity of a local food pantry.

The initiative was organized by the Women's Philanthropy Division of the Jewish Federation of Cincinnati, in collaboration with Jewish Family Service (JFS) Heldman Family Food Pantry, located at Jewish Family Service Barbash Family Vital Support Center.

Sandee Golden of Jewish Family Service oversees daily operation of the food pantry. She says this seasonal help bridges the gaps during the holiday season.

"What the federation is doing for us, by providing food for Thanksgiving for our clients supplements the food we are able to provide," Golden said.

Jennifer Zelkind organized the volunteers. As director of women's philanthropy, she says this kind of giving is at the center of The Jewish Federation Cincinnati’s mission. More >
