After a 49-year-break, Israel and Guinea, a majority-Muslim country in West Africa, reestablished diplomatic ties on Wednesday. Israeli Foreign Ministry Director General Dore Gold and the secretary of the Guinean president, Ibrahim Khalil Kaba, signed an official agreement on Wednesday evening in Paris. The breakthrough comes after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke by phone with Guinean President Alpha Condé during his recent visit to Africa. More >
